Presidency Message

Dear Sisters,
And Jesus admonished the Nephites, "Therefore, go ye unto your homes, and ponder
upon the things which I have said, and ask of the Father, in my name, that ye may
understand."(3 Ne. 17:3.)

Pondering, which means to weigh mentally, to deliberate, to meditate, can achieve the
opening of the spiritual eyes of one's understanding. Also, the Spirit of the Lord may
rest upon the ponderer
.
In the talk that Elder Devin Durrant gave last year in October, he invites us to
"ponderize" the scriptures. He said that "ponderizing" ,which isn't
really word, is a combination of 80 percent extended pondering and 20 percent
memorization.
He gives us the challenge to "ponderize." He does this by giving us two simple
steps:
"First, choose a verse of scripture each week and place it where you will see it
every day.
Second, read or think of the verse several times each day and ponder the meaning of its
words and key phrases throughout the week. Imagine the uplifting results of doing this
weekly for six months, a year, 10 years, or more."

As you make this effort, you will feel an increase in spirituality. You will also be able
to teach and lift those you love in more meaningful ways.
If we have a scripture on our mind, we will give more Christlike responses to others, be
less quick to anger and have a more positive outlook on day to day life.

As a Relief Society Presidency, we challenge you to try this and "feast upon the
words of Christ" by taking time to "ponderize" the scriptures and feel the
difference it can make in your day to day life.
Sisters of the Shepard Ward, we appreciate and love you. Thank you for being there for
each other.

Love,

The Shepard Ward Relief Society Presidency
